Young Chang Grand Expanding Brackets Issue

PictureX Marks the Bad Bracket
Have a Young Chang or Webber grand
With keys that are hard to press?
Or that doesn’t play right
Or that has never played right?
Or the Hammers are doing weird things?

Does it have a serial number between 050000 - 118750

Did you get it or is it from the 90s?

If so the action brackets are expanding and will continue to do so until corrected.

Yes the metal formulation in the brackets material was off so it’s similar to bread with too much yeast and it continues to grow until corrected.

Many techs don’t know about the issue just try to adjust the problem away
And it will come back in a few years.

Frequently the adjustments made are in the opposite direction and once the corrected brackets are installed they will have to be re adjusted for the piano to play right.

What’s needed
Your technician (not a tuner) needs to contact Young Chang for replacement brackets.

Then they need to remove the old brackets and install the corrected ones.

Once it’s all back together the action requires adjustments to ensure proper performance.

If you have a Young Chang or Webber grand having the described action issues please email me for a free consult.
